Program Coordinator


Position Outline:

The success of a Reasoning Mind (RM) implementation at a school depends on many factors: the teachers must be trained and supported, the principal must be kept informed and involved, the computers in the classrooms must be working properly, and many other requirements must be met. The Program Coordinator works with schools in all of these capacities, making sure that the RM project is going as well as possible. The largest part of the job is training and supporting teachers, especially as they move to the new and unfamiliar technology and teaching paradigm of RM. Reasoning Mind's experience has shown that the role of the Program Coordinator is absolutely critical to the success of the RM classes at the school.

Duties:
  • Participate in teacher training, both at the beginning of and during the school year
  • Around 15-20 teachers will be assigned to each Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator must provide continuous support and training to teachers, monitoring the progress of each class and meeting with each teacher at least once every two weeks to provide strategies for making the most out of RM
  • Keep school administrators informed, and involve them in resolving any problems or difficulties that may arise during the year, including difficulties with the computers, with scheduling, or with anything else
  • Administer RM's prizes and rewards program at assigned schools
  • Write regular reports regarding the progress of all classes, as well as problems encountered and specific ways to improve each RM implementation. Involve other RM employees whenever additional technological, administrative, or any other kind of help is needed
  • Test new system features approximately 5 hours per week

Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Very high level of intelligence and energy
  • Good writing skills
  • Comfort with middle and high school mathematics
  • Good knowledge of standard PC tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Windows 2000/XP, and the Internet

Analyst


Position Outline:

The analyst's primary function is to participate in the design of the Reasoning Mind (RM) web-based learning system. The job requires a great amount of creativity, since this individual must come up with ways to create engaging and efficient educational activities, assess students' knowledge based on their performance, and integrate all of the elements of the learning environment - games, classrooms, study modes - into a single pedagogically coherent whole. In addition to this, the analyst will bring ideas created by others to their fully developed state. The position does not require knowledge of programming; rather, the analyst will describe what the program should do, and then send these descriptions to the software engineering staff for implementation.

Duties:
  • Develop functional requirements for web-based educational systems for children in grades three and above
  • Ensure that the implementation of functional requirements in RM's web-based software systems meets the needs of end users; coordinate the implementation process with RM's system analysts in Moscow, Russia
  • Create standards and procedures to regulate the development of software (system) and curriculum (content) requirements
  • Research effective educational approaches and methodologies
  • Analyze effectiveness of in-house educational products; perform evaluation studies and produce reports

Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in mathematics, physics, or computer science
  • Excellent analytical skills and high level of creativity
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; thorough and methodical in thought
  • Experience teaching or tutoring is a plus
  • Sincere interest in K-12 education

Project Manager


Position Outline:

The Project Manager is responsible for helping the CEO organize management of the organization, and to keep track of the work of the company's various departments. While the Project Manager does not directly manage the department supervisors, his or her responsibilities include developing reporting tools and using them to keep track of all departments' progress.

Duties:
  • Develop reporting tools; report to the CEO regularly on progress and setbacks for each department
  • Maintain continuous dialogue with all department heads to coordinate work and bring necessary issues to the attention of the CEO
  • Develop a deep understanding of all aspects of the RM project, enabling active participation in various management discussions and decisions
  • Document current business processes and work to improve them
  • Write and edit documents describing RM to donors, partner schools, etc.
  • Help out in any area where this is needed, including (but not limited to) human resources, curriculum, implementation, enrollment, fundraising, and finance
  • Learn whatever is necessary for the work (mathematics curriculum issues, programming, hardware technologies, financial tools, etc.)
  • Work significant overtime on a regular basis

Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a technical discipline

Staff Accountant


Position Outline:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for bookkeeping, purchasing, inventory, and general administrative duties at Reasoning Mind (RM).

Duties:
  • Entering financial data into RM's ledgers in QuickBooks Pro
  • Creating Disbursement Authorization forms for each financial transaction
  • Preparing and recording donations, reimbursement payments, and general deposits
  • Scheduling Accounts Payable payments
  • Creating invoices, and collecting Accounts Receivable payments
  • Preparing periodic financial reports for the CEO, staff, donors, trustees, vendors, and for departmental use
  • Purchasing office supplies, student rewards, and department orders
  • Organizing and tracking rewards inventory
  • Assisting the Human Resources Department with job postings, career fairs, tracking assignments, and answering applicant questions

Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with great attention do detail
  • Knowledge of standard PC tools (Word, Excel, etc), Windows 2000/XP, and the Internet, experience using QuickBooks is a plus
  • Good sense of humor is a plus

AmeriCorps*VISTA Curriculum Editor


Position Outline:

The Curriculum Editor is responsible for participating in the development of an advanced 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade mathematics curriculum. Each grade curriculum will be developed in 1-2 years, after which it will not require additional support and will be used to benefit thousands of students.

Duties:
  • Edit math problems and theory material for each grade.
