Reasoning Mind is looking for partners in research and development. The two primary fields of interest are analysis of data obtained through RM’s projects, and the development and testing of alternative methodologies for middle school math teaching.

In the 2003 pilot project, Reasoning Mind gathered an absolutely unique and fascinating database of information about the learning process. For each of the fifty students of the pilot project, the database contains a complete and detailed study history, with every problem and theory screen given to each student, every answer and solution submitted, chat transcriptions for every virtual classroom session, and logs for every game played in the system. This information is also paired with data on whether the student asked to see a hint while solving a problem, how long he or she spent reading theory, how long solving a given problem, and so on. Reasoning Mind is looking for organizations interested in researching the learning process through this rich database.

Reasoning Mind’s next learning environment, scheduled for piloting in 2005, will provide incredible curricular flexibility. The system will allow for the use of many different methodologies, and many curricula within each methodology. Individuals or organizations interested in contributing methodologies for use with Reasoning Mind’s learning environment are welcomed to do so, and should contact us. The company sees this flexibility as a way of fulfilling its mission to provide a common platform to unite and promote good educational programs offered by itself and others.
