Director of Development
Summary
The Director of Development is responsible for the fundraising that enables Reasoning Mind to give a first-rate mathematics education to tens of thousands of students every year. The Director of Development works closely with central management, the Board of Trustees, and a team of Development Associates to design and implement strategies to meet extremely ambitious fundraising targets.
What does the Director of Development at Reasoning Mind do?
- Develop fundraising strategies in consultation with central management and the Board of Trustees.
- Support and energize board members in outreach to state legislatures, major foundations, and personal networks.
- Coach and manage Development Associates in identifying and cultivating relationships with donors.
- Communicate fundraising progress to Reasoning Mind central management, staff, and Board of Trustees, and relay organizational achievements to donors.
- Participate in the streamlining of work processes among the Development, Enrollment, Implementation, and Communications departments.
- Author major funding proposals and review all proposals produced by Development team.
- Oversee design of marketing materials for fundraising purposes.
- Supervise the planning and execution of major fundraising events.
What qualifications do I need?
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience in nonprofit development
- Passionate about improving education and ready to inspire others
- Comfortable managing people at all levels, from entry-level employees to board members
- Strong management skills
- Apt at developing structures for personal work and work of others
- Thrives in a highly collaborative environment
- Strong technical and strategic writing skills
- Well-networked in the Houston community (preferred)
- Analytically-minded
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Sense of humor recommended
